First minted in 1526 by King Henry VIII, and then discontinued after a 244 year run in 1970, the Half Crown is one of the most famous coins in the world. The specific coin shown here was hand selected as a perfect example this post-war British coinage. And once cut, it has become a touchstone to pre-colonial Britian.
Hand crafted by Stuart Richards exclusively for Silver State Foundry, this coin was hand selected for authenticity it's incredible quality and detail.
Each small area was pierced before the background was removed using a jeweler's saw with very fine blades. Finally, the raw edges were filed and sanded smooth to create a finish beyond compare.
In our Reno, NV studio we will add a bale and 18" sterling silver ball chain so you can wear this piece as a necklace, or we'll add a pin and backing so you can wear it as a lapel pin/tie tack/brooch pin.
Removing the background of a coin to reveal the engraver's original vision is a time consuming and painstaking process. As a result, this piece is the only one like it in the world. If it is something you're interested in, don't wait because once it is gone, it is truly gone for good!
