1957 Ceylon 5 Rupee Cut Coin Necklace

    Celebrating 2500 Years of Buddhism

Based on the 11th century Sri Lankan Moonstone imagery, this incredible coin depicts a ring of elephants, cows, horses, and tigers with another ring of ducks holding lotus flowers in their mouths. This Moonstone image was only carved into stone landings at the base of staircases leading into temples throughout Sri Lanka.

As a very beautiful and rare cut coin, this imagery is transformed into a breathtaking example of historic Buddhist engraving.

    Genuine Coins, Meticulous Craftsmanship

Hand crafted by Stuart Richards exclusively for Silver State Foundry, this coin was hand selected for authenticity and detail.

Each small area was pierced before the background was removed using a jeweler's saw with very fine blades. Finally, the raw edges were filed and sanded smooth to create a finish beyond compare.

    Ready To Turn Heads

In our Reno, NV studio we've added a loop and jump-ring out of sterling silver, turning it into a stunning pendant. It comes with a 22" sterling silver ball chain so you can slip this necklace on as soon as it arrives.

A True One-of-One Work of Art

Removing the background of a coin to reveal the engraver's original vision is a time consuming and painstaking process. As a result, this 1957 Ceylon 5 Rupee coin is the only one like it in the world!
