Based on the 11th century Sri Lankan Moonstone imagery, this incredible coin depicts a ring of elephants, cows, horses, and tigers with another ring of ducks holding lotus flowers in their mouths. This Moonstone image was only carved into stone landings at the base of staircases leading into temples throughout Sri Lanka.
As a very beautiful and rare cut coin, this imagery is transformed into a breathtaking example of historic Buddhist engraving.
Hand crafted by Stuart Richards exclusively for Silver State Foundry, this coin was hand selected for authenticity and detail.
Each small area was pierced before the background was removed using a jeweler's saw with very fine blades. Finally, the raw edges were filed and sanded smooth to create a finish beyond compare.
