This money clip begins as a genuine 19th-century Morgan Silver Dollar, minted between 1878 and 1904 and selected only in Bright Uncirculated (BU) or About Uncirculated (AU) condition. These coins retain strong detail and integrity—essential for both form and function.

Unlike simple stamped clips, this piece is created through a multi-stage forging process designed to produce lasting strength:

  1. The coin is first forged into a solid ring
  2. The ring is stretched and precisely cut
  3. The silver is folded into its final clip form
  4. Edges are refined and polished by hand

Throughout this process, the silver is intentionally work-hardened, increasing its spring tension so the clip maintains its grip over time. This prevents the gradual loosening common in softer or cast clips and ensures it continues to hold bills securely with daily use.
