House Protocols
Answers to Common Questions
Every piece we make begins with a genuine sovereign silver or gold coin — a coin originally issued by a government mint and intended to function as real currency.
We work exclusively with silver and gold because they forge beautifully, perform reliably under heat and pressure, and—just as importantly—are hypoallergenic. These metals do not cause skin reactions and are suited for pieces meant to be worn daily and kept for life.
We do not use replicas, reproductions, recycled jewelry metals, base metals, or privately struck novelty coins. Each coin is sourced through established numismatic dealers and verified for origin, metal content, and historical authenticity before any work begins.
Not every coin is suitable for forging. Only those that retain sufficient detail, weight, and structural integrity are accepted. Coins that fall short of these standards are set aside without exception.
This ensures that every piece begins as documented currency—material that has already moved through history—before it is shaped into something meant to be worn and remembered.
The House does not imitate history.
It preserves it.
You don’t need to know your exact ring size to place an order.
Each piece is forged directly from a single sovereign coin and must be brought to its final size before forging is complete. For that reason, proper measurement is an important step — but it doesn’t have to happen upfront.
We offer several reliable ways to determine the correct size, either before or after placing your order:
- Place your order and request a complimentary sizing kit
- Use a professional ring sizer at home
- Have your finger measured by a local jeweler
Once your measurement is confirmed, your piece moves into final forging.
If an adjustment is ever needed later, we provide lifetime resizing and refinishing to maintain proper fit and preserve the integrity of the piece.

Ring Measurement Guide
Proper measurement protects both the integrity of the coin and the permanence of the heirloom it becomes.
Forging
All pieces are made to order. Upon placement, the appropriate sovereign coin is selected, verified, and prepared for forging.
Most standard orders are completed and ready for release within 1–3 business days.
Certain commissions require additional time. Requests involving a specific year, a personally supplied coin, or legacy inlay work require additional sourcing, preparation, or verification and are typically completed within 1–2 weeks.
Each piece is forged, inspected, and finished by hand before release.
Delivery
All orders ship free of charge.
Orders with a value under $5,000 ship via USPS Priority Mail.
Orders with a value over $5,000 ship Next Day Air via FedEx or UPS, depending on current service reliability.
A tracking confirmation is issued by email upon release to the carrier.
You may choose to have a personal or family coin forged into a piece.
Some people commission work from coins that have been carried, collected, or kept within a family for years or generations. These pieces often hold meaning beyond their material value, and they are handled with particular care.
Before any work begins, each submitted coin is carefully evaluated for authenticity, condition, size suitability, and whether it can retain enough detail once forged. Not every coin is suitable for this process. When a coin does not meet these standards, it is respectfully declined and returned.
To begin evaluation, you may:
- Review the Personal Coin Stewardship Guide
- Or initiate a private review by emailing the House with an image of your coin and any questions - terry@silverstatefoundry.com
Once forging begins, the transformation of a coin is permanent.
Because each piece is shaped directly from a specific coin, it cannot be undone once that process starts. For this reason, return and cancellation policies vary by the type of work being done.
Standard Silver Pieces
Heritage Silver pieces — including Morgan Silver Dollar, Walking Liberty Half Dollar, and Silver Eagle rings — may be returned or exchanged within 60 days of delivery.
These pieces are eligible for resizing, exchange, or return as part of our standard guarantee, provided they are unworn and in original condition.
Sovereign Gold, Legacy & Custom Work
Gold pieces, rare-year requests, personal coin submissions, and legacy inlay work are made for a specific owner and cannot be cancelled, refunded, or returned once forging begins.
Because of the sourcing involved and the irreversible nature of the work, these pieces are instead covered by lifetime care. This includes resizing, refinishing, and structural maintenance to ensure the piece continues to fit, wear, and endure as intended.
An order cannot be reversed.
But it will always be cared for.
