Introduced in 1907, the Saint‑Gaudens Double Eagle was commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt and designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint‑Gaudens. He envisioned a coin as beautiful as the ideals of America itself—and the result is widely regarded as the most stunning coin in U.S. history.

Struck in .900 fine gold, the $20 Double Eagle features a radiant Lady Liberty stepping forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace. The reverse shows an eagle soaring above the sun’s rays.

Production ended in 1933 when private gold ownership was outlawed, and most coins were melted down. Those that survived are now rare, certified treasures, graded for condition by leading agencies (NGC or PCGS) before entering our workshop.
